The beach of Specchiarica have a special charm thanks to the dunes along the coast
Specchiarica, a place in Salento on the Ionian coast bordering San Pietro in Bevagna, is a fraction of Manduria in Salento, which is characterized by its tropical atmosphere, the crystal clear and unspoiled water and its peculiar sandy beach surrounded by high centuries-old dunes, covered with the typical Mediterranean vegetation.
Also, if you stop to look at the scenic landscape, which alternates sandy beaches at rocky stretches, you have the impression of being in an oasis that has belonged to distant times: a true unspoiled paradise highly appreciated for the singularity of its coastline.

The beach of Specchiarica is bordered by two protected macro-natural areas: the "Natural Reserve of the Salina dei Monaci" at east, at Torre Colimena, and the "Natural Reserve of the Chidro River" at west at San Pietro in Bevagna.
In particular, Chidro is the most important river in Salento, very fishy, surrounded by spontaneous, very lush vegetation. While the reserve of the Salina dei Monaci is one of the most interesting places in the area because it is possible to watch the arrival of ducks and wading-birds, of avocets and stilt-bird who reserve a spectacular scenery for tourists.
Specchiarica is ideally and centrally located in respect of renowned tourist destinations such as:
Gallipoli, Sant'Isidoro and Santa Maria al Bagno to the south and places of artistic and cultural interest such as Lecce, the Baroque city.
Within a few kilometers you can spend a lot of pastimes and activities: bowling, horse riding on the beach, go kart, fishing, scuba diving, snorkeling, diving and surfing, excursions in general, boat walks as well as discos for youngers.
To mark in calendar the programming, from April to October, of festivals and saint feasts in Salento, where you can admire and be charmed by the engaging pizzica, the typical traditional dance caused by the bite of the taranta.
